Personnel responsible for management, design, construction, installation, command, and operation of public safety communications systems and supporting information systems are eligible for this category. Such persons must be employed by, retired from or a volunteer of a governmental entity, or a contractor of a governmental entity providing the described services. Must be actively engaged in or retired from the performance of the described services for the specific entity on a regular basis and may not have a conflicting commercial interest which provides a significant portion of their income. Examples of qualifying positions include but are not limited to engineers, technicians, managers, information systems specialists, supervisors and telecommunicators. Active members may vote on association matters, may enjoy all benefits and, except where otherwise limited, may serve in any capacity in the association and its chartered groups. |

Those
non-administrative and non-supervisory personnel otherwise meeting the
requirements of Active Membership, at the applicant's discretion, may select
this category and those persons not meeting the requirements of any other
category of membership that share the goals and objectives of the
Association are eligible for this category. Examples include engineers
,information systems specialist, technicians and telecommunicators who
choose not to participate in the Active Category. Voting privileges are not
extended to the Member category; otherwise they may continue to enjoy all
privileges of the Association.

Those persons who receive
compensation in any form for products or services rendered in business and
industry are eligible to be commercial members. Except for the Corporate
Advisory Committee Member on the Executive Council, voting privileges are
not extended to Commercial Members. They may otherwise enjoy all benefits
and privileges of the Association.

Download the the standard APCO "Application for Membership" form (PDF) from the APCO web site. Although, the form does not have a specific location to indicate dual membership, please fill out this form. At the bottom of the form, add a note requesting dual membership. Be sure to indicate that you are adding a secondary chapter membership to your primary membership (i.e. adding secondary CPRA membership to a primary NAPCO membership). Insure that you remit the proper additional cost for dual membership. Submit the application form and payment per APCO's standard instructions.
The additional costs are as follows:
- If your active membership is AC (Tier One), the additional rate is $16.
- If your active membership is MB (Member), the additional rate is $12.
- If your active membership is CM (Commercial), the additional rate is $41.
